| end of an era of bird pictures |

Don't know how many of you are familiar with it, but Mike McDowell's Bird Digiscoping blog has some of the most beautiful bird photos anywhere on the web. Mike has been photographing and writing about birds for a few years now. Sadly, he is now retiring his blog. Get over there and look at the photos before they're taken down or something. They are amazing. |

| Cutting decals of baby clothing and putting them on adult clothing. |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|03:56 pm] |
Now would you want to cut very very close to the decal or leave some of the original fabric around it?
To attach it to my shirt, I am now going to put it on some white fabric, since my shirts white and sew it on there and also use iron on fusable webbing.
if some of you have done this before and have a better way of taking pre existing decals and stuff off baby clothing an putting it on a bigger shirt, so you can wear it please let me know.
Yes I have cross posted to other crafts to get a wider arena of replies, in case nobody replies in one group, or someone in another group has done or heard of what I am doing, and the other groups have not. |

| X-mas Gifts for Babies? |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|12:19 pm] |
My extended family has exploded with children over the last few years and now I have 15 children under the age of six that I'm shopping for. Because I'm hoping to eat during the month of December, I'm trying for handmade gifts this year.
OH YEAH, AND I CAN'T SEW. AT ALL.
Does anyone have any suggestions for non-sewn handmade gifts for young children?
I started by making some rhyming storybooks about some of the older ones. Then I wrote some lullabies for the youngest ones. It's the ones in the middle that are giving me the most problem (the 18 month/2 yr olds), since they're not quite ready for books, but a little too big for lullabies.
I was thinking of making some classic wooden blocks with personalized images woodburned on the sides but I'm not sure if wooden blocks will do more damage than good to small children.
Any help would be great! Thanks so much! |

| The Yogic Warrior |

WARRIOR 10/25/09
Take what's love and let it be a crystalline mirror that transforms the seat
A million hands doing, believing the earth is transformed into a beautiful place positive, light, a gift
Soar up high like birds in flight No longer living in endless night
Hands, all hands extend a reach give what you can love all you see
Courage, motivation, strength, and passion these are the weapons of a warrior who fastens hold to their purpose and makes it so Lighting the dark of the world they show
On warrior, to the field of dreams! Engage, transform, be a spreader of wisdom joy, spirit, delight the yogic warrior gives never fights
Be the Divine Light a fire to the world Be conscious in passion, life, and mind the world will change You are Divine I finally revised the Yogic Warrior poem from before taking it from personal to more impersonal. It was inspired by the October 2009 Yoga Journal Seane Corne "Off the Mat, into the World workshops" excerpt about taking your good qualitites and what you love doing and using it as a vehicle of change in the world. |

Wowzers, i haven't Posted here in.. well a LOOOONNNNGGGG time. Sorry My Bad, just haven't been sewing a lot lately.. (trying to find a job, augh!) Well, here it goes.
I'm going to an ICP concert on November 17th and well its my first ICP concert and im SUPER excited which is why i decided to make a dress for the concert!!
I had an old dress i got a few years ago that i never ever wear and a ICP shirt that i got at GOODWILL for $2 that was to small for me and i thought "OMG i should make a ICP dress!!".
Now my Original idea was to just cut out the image on the icp shirt and sew it onto the dress..(Can you say boring?) But then i had an idea that was even better..... ((WARNING--PIC HEAVY)) ( THE ICP DRESS ) |

Stan (after being kicked out of bed by Dorothy): "Now what the hell was that for?" Dorothy: "You're not getting into this bed, Stanley." Stan: "Then where I am supposed to sleep?" Dorothy: "On the floor like any dog." Stan: "Oh, fine! Just fine! Stan Zbornak doesn't have to beg a woman to get into bed! Women come to me!" Dorothy: "Yeah, right after they get the approval number on your MasterCard."
She certainly was the queen of ownage. :-D |

So I've been tryin to come up with some cute stocking stuffer type things... usually I fail pretty bad at Christmas, so this year I'm trying to plan in advance, heh.
Petite <3 pendants! Tiny and cute and just dorky enough for most of my girly friends. They're super simple to make too, except that I had to make the steel "<" symbol stamp first. Originally I was going to make earrings, but I hate making earrings hehe. |
